Obituary of Henry MATVIW

July 21, 1933 – Mundare, Alberta
July 20, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

Henry died peacefully on July 20, 2020.  He was devoted to Vera (nee Shupenia), his wife of 61 years.  He was a loving father to Karen Baudais (Brett), Candace Matviw (Cory) and Heather Lutzko (Greg).  He was also a very proud grandfather to Grayson, Sarah, Jackie, Chalse, Isaac, Alexandria, Ben, Olivia, Macy and great-grandpa to Nicola - enjoying many adventures over the years. They all knew Grandpa’s favorite food group was ice cream!  Henry was born and raised on the family farm near Mundare, Alberta.  He and Vera raised their children in Calgary.  Other than spending time travelling with Vera and visiting with his immediate and extended family, Henry loved watching baseball and hockey. He played badminton and table tennis for many years.  Henry exemplified compassion, kindness and generosity throughout his life.  He is survived by his sister Nadia Maciuk of Alberta as well as many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his parents Peter and Cassie and 3 siblings-Tillie, Mike and Jessie.  We are all blessed to have had him in our lives.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to Heart and Stroke Foundation.　 Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive SW, Calgary, AB) on Monday, July 27, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Eden Brook Memorial Gardens.
