Obituary of Georgina ANDA (nee Komanovics)

January 1, 1940 – Budapest, Hungary
July 25, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

Georgina Anda of Calgary, AB, suddenly, but quietly passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2020 at the age of 80 years.

Georgina was born in Budapest, Hungary on January 1, 1940.  On November 19, 1956, during the Hungarian Revolution, Georgina bravely fled the country, leaving behind her family in search of a better life.

She was eventually granted passage on the Ship “New York” bound for Canada and arrived in Halifax at Pier 21 on December 19, 1956.   Eventually she made her way to Calgary.  She met her husband, Les (Laszlo) Anda while fishing on the banks of the Bow River.  This was a hobby and passion that they both shared for many years to come. They soon realized that they were meant for each other and were married on December 23, 1960.

They had made many friends over the years and whenever the opportunity arose, the friends would gather, and the party would start.  Georgina loved to dance and could dance the night away.

Shortly after the passing of Les, she moved into Chateau Renoir.  She enjoyed the new chapter of her life and had made many dear friends.

Georgina was a devoted and loving mother to her children, Les (Janna), Gina (Dwight), Tom (Tina) and Randy (Jeannie); adored “Mama” to her grandchildren, Laszlo (Lauren), Tyler, Kendal, Jozsef, Cory, Brett, Grace and Cole; and her first great -grandson, Levi. She will also be loving remembered by her extended family, Douglas, Deandra, Danielle and little Brooklyn.

She adored her family immensely, each of them being the twinkle in her eyes.  The love she had for us was endless. She was loved by many and will be missed by all.  Her passing will leave an emptiness in our lives and hearts that can never be filled.

Graveside Service will be held for close family and friends at St. Mary’s Cemetery on Friday, August 7, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed on Georgina’s obituary at www.McInnisandHolloway.com.
