Obituary of Anita Therese HARE

May 23, 1919 – Chauvin, Alberta March 1, 2018 – Calgary, Alberta Anita Hare (nee Girard), beloved wife of the late Stanley Hare of Calgary, passed away on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at the age of 98 years. Anita was born to Germaine and Jean Baptiste Girard on May 23, 1919. After leaving the farm in Chauvin at the age of 19, she moved to Edmonton where she worked for The Hudson’s Bay Company. This is where she met and married a handsome Airforce Officer, Stanley Hare and they eventually settled in Calgary. While raising her children, Anita enjoyed a career working with the Calgary Herald, making many lasting friends. Anita and Stan enjoyed traveling to many countries around the world. Anita was an avid golfer, bowler and gardener. She expressed her remarkable creativity through her sewing and fashion sense. She was a master of crossword puzzles and Sudoku. Anita always enjoyed a glass of wine, family gatherings and the company of her dear friend Rose. Her famous “Mama’s Cookies” were highly prized by her grandchildren and all of their friends. Anita is survived by her son Landis (Pamela) Hare; daughter Lenda (Bradley) Vettese; and twin daughters Jocelyn (Craig) Longmore and Jennifer McMurray (Ted Pound) and Doug McMurray. Anita enjoyed seven grandchildren: Jenna, Nadine and Miguel Hare, Curtis and Kesley Longmore, Jonathan and Jarrod McMurray. Anita was predeceased by her siblings, Lillian, Armand, Cecile, Trudie, George, John and Richard (Chico). Funeral Services will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church (1307 – 14 Street S.W., Calgary, AB) on Friday, March 9, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
