Celebration of Life
Condolences
Memories of him being a fun-loving classmate through ISHS, basketball road trips to “far-off” places like Pincher Creek, and special surprise when he and Wendy’s twins arrived a year after my surprise twins. Always enjoyable get togethers with Daryl, Wendy and the family throughout the years and he will be truly missed.
A ‘devil-may-care’ teenager
A motorbike wild ride
A good day to die thinks big sister calmly.
Dar, You are our heart and a legend lives on.
I know you are ‘raisin’ ‘ell somewhere!
Went for dinner and ordered ‘interesting’ food.
Suckling pig, surf and turf dinners.
Rum & coke, too!
Also cried at funerals and weddings.
I remember when Daryl took me the back way on a wild ride in Frank.
Getting spa treatments for Wendy and me in St Lucia.
Sitting on th3 beach, waving goodbye to our flight we couldn’t get on.
Big fires, great barbecues!
I remember every week platooning tanks with Dustbear. It was no easy chore but always memorable.
I remember a few get-togethers in your backyard making sure the fire and smoke was quite large and his laugh while building that fire. The music, laughs and great conversations.
There are just too many memories but ... I will always remember when we went camping and Daryl taught me how to shoot a gun!!
I remember when Baby Daryl came home from the hospital and I held him in my arms for the very first time and fell in love.
I remember when Daryl would laugh like crazy when he knew he pulled a “fast one” over on someone! Kindest heart and so loyal to friends and especially his family.
I remember when Daryl was helping 285 Legion. He was on his knees caulking the bar and fridge. We couldn’t stop laughing. He was squeezed into a tight space and barely able to move.
I remember Daryl at 285 Legion during the recent renovations with his expertise. “Lest we forget!”
We were new to Calgary and we first knew Daryl when he coached our daughter, Lisa. She really liked that he was so funny. Small world when we discovered he also worked a Maco with Wade, which was when we met Wendy who is just as precious as Daryl. Our prayers and tears are with you and your family
I remember when your mom introduced you to a beer shampoo, “it really happened”, and the time we took bad wine from your parents’ house. “You guys are going to die if you drink that,” your mom screamed.
Fire, fire, fire and more fire.
Driving games of speed in Edmonton
Pool laughs
Ski trips
Hockey games
Baking classes at SAIT
Daryl, hope they tell there’s a speed limit in “heaven”.
I remember when Daryl gently and quietly reminded a referee he missed a cal ...
Greatest supporter of his girls of all time ...
I remember he would drive on the side of the road and even between both lanes of traffic. I may have been close to peeing my pants. But we were never late.
We had a barbecue at my house. The patio door was closed and my dad walked right into the glass and bounced off it was so clean. Daryl laughed so hard he nearly cried. Not 15 minutes later, Daryl did the very same thing and we all laughed and laughed. You were a great friend and will never be forgotten.
I remember Daryl would always creep up behind me and scare the livin’ daylights out of me. I remember his kindness helping Candace out when she was stranded on the side of the road and John was no where to be found. Until we meet again ... Bev
I remember when Daryl was in Kelowna on a ski trip. The guys went to the pub and a couple of guys asked if Daryl and Randy were undercover cops. How we laughed about that!
I remember when Daryl cut up garden hose so he siphon gas from my truck to get home in the middle of the night. Paid for with a mostly full case of beer.

I was privileged to be their nanny when the girls were very little! He was an amazing dad always there for his kids. I remember he built a skating rink in the backyard before he built the garage. Came one day he was out there teaching the girls how to skate. A story they told me along time ago was one day they were dropping the older two girls off in The crows nest pass with their aunt. They were heading to United States with Dee. When we got to the border. The border control asked what about the baby in the back They had forgotten that Dee was back there cause she has slept the whole time. This was my first job as a nanny and they’re always encouraged me. First time I made a roast for them he told me it was one of the best roast he had ever eaten! Made me smile. He will truly be missed by many. My whole family sends their love and prayers to you. You guys will always feel like family forever. Hugs to D Nicole Alicia and especially Wendy. When I make it that way I’ll give you a real hug when we can.
I will never forget Daryl’s mischievous grin! He was an excellent friend always ready to help or give advice. We will miss him dearly.
It is with great sadness to hear of the sudden passing of Daryl, I as well as others had enjoyed his company over a cold brew and shared many tales of construction work that had gone astray! I like others in the construction industry will remember Daryl as a fantastic person who truly cared to get it right the first time, and like others have shared, would indeed give you the shirt off of his back when you were in need.
He and his unique sense of humour will be sorely missed! Rest easy my friend for you were one of a kind! My heart felt condolences to your Family at this difficult time...
With my deepest sympathy,
Warm Regards
Darcy

Our hearts are completely saddened by the loss of our wonderful friend and neighbour Daryl. When we moved into the neighbourhood almost 30 years ago we were blessed to have realized that Daryl, Wendy and their girls were our neighbours, as Daryl and Laurens had already a fantastic friendship through Lafarge. When we started our family Daryl and Wendy were there to help celebrate. Alicia, Nicole and Deana became part of our family and helped create the most wonderful memories. The memories of drinks and bonfires, dinners and giggles...a quick stop in the alley to say hi as Daryl worked and tinkered in his garage wearing his overalls. Daryl certainly was the friendly giggle, the laughter, sometimes a tear, the hearty friendship and the “sheriff” of the corner back alley. Always loved and will be forever missed.

Growing up next door to Daryl, Wendy, Alicia, Nicole and Deana was filled with many wonderful moments and memories too many to mention in such a short time.
Daryl was always seen around the neighborhood with a smile and his uplifting laughter filled many with joy. He would often pop around the corner to offer a hand or to ask if a tool was needed or just to see what my dad was doing when his words of frustration blew across the fence and caught Daryl's attention. When I was younger I remember Daryl taking the time to give me a few pointers when shooting hoops outside, unfortunately was beyond assistance and I was never going to be anywhere near as good as the girls when it comes to basketball.
I always laughed when I would look out the kitchen window to see Daryl outside in the backyard preparing for his discouragement of the woodland creatures from taking up residence, as well sent them eviction notices by "air mail" and on occasion would let my brother and I partake in this activity.
Daryl was an amazing husband to Wendy, they had been through so many difficult things in recent years but each time they were faced with a obstacle they stood strong with the support of family and friends overcame all that was put before them.
I watched as the love and support that Daryl had for his 3 wonderful daughters helped them to become successful young women and start families of their own.
The Dypolts are more than just neighbors to us, in close to 3 decades that we have known them, they have became our friends and a part of our extended neighbourhood family. We have watched each others families grow, we had shared birthdays and holidays. We supported each other through good times and our worst times.
My deepest condolences to Wendy, Alicia, Nicole, Deana their spouses and the grandchildren, as well to all of his family and friends during this difficult time. Daryl has truly left a lasting impression on the lives of everyone he came in contact with. He will be deeply missed by all.
Sincere condolences to Wendy and family. I've known Daryl since the Conmac days. Daryl's passing has spurred fond memories of our construction careers.

Sincere Condolences to Wendy and Family
I am truly grateful for the times we spent together and I cannot express how much I miss him.
Rest In Peace Brother.
Warren and Joanne Gawdun
Words cannot express how deeply saddened and sorry I am for Daryl’s passing. Our neighborhood will not shine as bright without his great big smile and chuckle to lighten it up.
Ever since I was a little kid, Daryl’s kindness and good nature was always there, whether it was him offering me a pop or freezee after helping him out or, when I got a little older, letting me shoot cans with the marshmallow slingshot or the BB gun, he always included me. Daryl really made you feel welcome and was always happy to see you even coming out in winter to chat with me while I shovelled just to see how life was going. Daryl’s willingness to help others was evident all those times he’d come over to lend a hand or a tool with whatever project Dad was working on, even if it was just to share in the frustration of the project, he was there for you. I loved how Daryl could bring neighbours together with a project. We’d work together at or lend a hand and we’d all get to spend sometime together. Daryl was an incredible, kind, light-hearted soul that I am so thankful to have met and made a friendship with over the years.
I feel extremely fortunate to have created so many meaningful memories with Daryl and you, Wendy, and grateful to have you two, not just close neighbours, but great friends, as well. Please let me know if there’s anything you need at this time, whether you need a grocery run or watering plants, I am here to support you.
With love and sympathy,
Ryan, next door neighbour my entire life.
Dear Wendy and family, I was shocked to hear of Daryl's death. You and Daryl were the first friends we made in Calgary when we moved to that rooming house downtown. We shared the same bathroom with a few other room and boarders, some of whom left a "ring around the tub"...... That was about 47 years ago! Daryl was charming and had an infectious smile. He always made us feel welcome when we came over for a bbq, dinner, the dress-up dinner parties, Hallowe'en parties.....he was always the life of the party. I remember how Daryl helped Bob build that tiny computer room in our basement in Millrise. I still don't know how they both fit in there and played "Pacman" on the computer! A world without Daryl P. Dypolt. I can't imagine. I can imagine though that God needed him to pave the highway to heaven. Good choice. Bob will be waiting there for him. Don't know if they will get much work done. Love and hugs to everyone. RIP Daryl....you are well-loved

I first meet Daryl in 1979 when he worked for Conmac.

Dear Wendy, Alicia, Nicole & Deana -- words don't feel like enough. Please know that my heart goes out to you and will keep you all in my prayers. Warm hugs and xoxo, Yvonne Ryan (Tarin/Robin's mom)
My family was not only next-door neighbors to the Dypolt but also dear friends! Daryl and my brother Dan were like brothers when they were kids. My mom and Irma were besties.
I am very sorry for your loss. May your find comfort in knowing Daryl was well-loved.
Bonnie
Our sincerest condolences... Rest In Peace old pal...

We miss you Daryl. I hope you and Dad are having a beer together, and laughing about the squirrels you've trapped. Your smile was your greatest gift to others. Shine on. xo

What a great idea to pave the parking lot. Thanks, Daryl. Your duty is done. Rest in Peace.

I would like to support Legion #285 & help redo the Parking lot. Sympathies for Daryl Dypolt. Glad to learn #285 will soon reopen for business.
May the passage of time, and the beautiful memories you shared with him help heal your pain. Someone so special and loved by so many will never be forgotten. My deepest condolences to your family.
So many awesome memories of Daryl, always had everyone smiling and laughing. Will be truly missed. Lots of love to Wendy, Alicia, Nicole and Deana. xo

He was an incredible human being.
For the amount of time I spent around him, he always left a great memory.
Daryl - what a guy! There was truly never a dull moment when you visited the Dypolt household! I will definitely remember Daryl for his whitty 'dad' jokes, his top fashion choice of coveralls, his super delicious bbq's and just seeing how much he cared and loved for his whole family. He was such a wonderful soul and will be missed dearly. Sending so much love to the whole family & hope that all the amazing memories you have will help heal the hole left by this incredible loss. Thinking of you all
We always loved being around Daryl. Thinking of you Wendy.
Daryl and I have always been brothers, I love him and will forever miss him.
Rest in Peace my buddy, and someday I will be with you again.
Very sad to hear of Daryl's passing. Our thoughts and prayers were and are with you.
A never forgotten memory of Daryl was in high school. I used to “borrow “ my dads car often to drive from Bellevue to Blairmore. Daryl has the greatest knack for sneaking up behind my car in his El Camino and start pushing me. I would freak never knew what was happening. And there in the rear view mirror was THAT SMILE just laughing. Every time!! Rest my friend. You are in good hands now.
So many years, so many memories. Daryl and I played basketball together on the Isabelle Sellon HIgh team. We chummed as school mates in those early years when we were immortal in our minds. He always was a crazy driver and if born in a different location than the Crowsnest Pass, I think he would have been a race car driver. We worked together in Calgary for Conmac and Lafarge concrete and did a fair amount of partying in his dive apartment somewhere around 11 Ave and 4th St. SW. Too many years have passed to remember the exact location, but the good times are sure remembered. We skied together on the old rope tow in Blairmore, and several times in Lake Louise. When I was ski bumming in Rossland BC. Daryl came out for a ski and party vacation. My memory is that it was more party than ski, but those days always were a bit foggy. After his marriage to Wendy, who has also become a great friend, it became a time of parties at their house. Did they ever know how to host a party, and the people they gathered around them were the best of the best. Proving that Daryl himself was the best of the best. I will always miss you my good friend. Rest in Peace. You deserve it!
