Obituary of William (Cork) PEDEN

July 12, 1928 – Swan River, Manitoba
August 3, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

Cork Peden of Calgary, AB, passed away on Monday, August 3, 2020 at the age of 92 years.

Cork was born in Swan River, MB, on July 12, 1928. He graduated from the Swan River High School and then began his working career in Moose Jaw, SK. In the early 1950’s he moved to Calgary to work as an accountant in the long haul trucking business, most notably with CN and Kingsway. He met Barbara Sinclair of Swift Current, SK and married her in 1956.

Cork enjoyed a passion for gardening, travel and watching sports on TV; largely tennis, baseball and curling. Cork and Barbara loved traveling, particularly to Hawaii, but also enjoyed Mexico, Tahiti and Caribbean cruises. Later, he focused on the landscaping and flower garden in their SW Calgary bungalow and enjoyed visits with Barbara’s siblings, nieces and nephews to hear of their adventures. In his last few years, Cork appreciated the companionship and staff support from those at AgeCare Midnapore.

Cork is survived by eight nieces and nephews and their families. He was predeceased by his loving wife Barbara and his parents, Edna May and Walter Stuart Peden.
