Obituary of Eric William LIESCH

April 26, 1979 – Vancouver, British Columbia
July 14, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with the saddest of hearts that we announce that Eric William Liesch, of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 14, 2020 at the age of 41 years.

Eric was born in Vancouver, BC to William and Irene Liesch, on April 26, 1979.  He went to high school in Surrey, BC, and later moved to Prince George, BC and then Calgary, AB. 

Eric was a devoted father who would never think twice before making a personal sacrifice for his son, Keanu.  When his son was younger, Eric enjoyed watching wrestling with Keanu - something he had also enjoyed doing with his own dad when he himself was that age.  As Keanu got older, they found camaraderie together and enjoyed hanging out or going for drives.  

Eric was always ready and willing to help his family and friends out when he could, whether it was to help someone move, lend a hand with a renovation, or give someone a ride if they needed one.  As a son, especially during his early adulthood, Eric looked up to and deeply appreciated his mom.  Eric’s nieces and nephews all looked up to him with admiration as a fun and caring uncle.

Eric was a kind, quiet soul with a great sense of humour who enjoyed the company of close friends and family.  In his younger years, Eric enjoyed skateboarding and snowboarding.  He was a lifetime hockey fan and cheered for the Vancouver Canucks during hockey season.  Eric was a natural mechanic who had a knack for fixing up old vehicles.  In Heaven Eric will most likely be found restoring and racing around a vintage mustang.

Eric is survived by his son Keanu, mother Irene, sisters, Karen and Lisa (Ken); nephews, James, Joshua and Ryan; and nieces, Hannah and Sarah.  Eric is predeceased by his father, William and brother-in-law Todd. Eric will be deeply missed by all of his family and friends.
