Obituary of Marilyn Alice HARKER

March 22, 1940 – Vermillion, Alberta
August 15, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

Marilyn passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 15, 2020, with her family by her side.

Marilyn grew up on a farm in Clandonald, AB, where she loved to play piano and read. At eighteen, she decided to become an educator and earned her Bachelor’s degree at the University of Alberta. Marilyn found it fulfilling to work with children, and had a long career.

Marilyn married Michael Harker in 1961, and they spent 56 years together. In retirement, she had time for her passions: expert-level quilting, singing in a choir, and spending time with her family and close friends.

Marilyn is survived by her children, Lois (Todd) and Stuart (Kathryn); grandchildren, Taylor (Emily), Lauren, Connor, Georgia, and Charles; and sister Mavis Brockman. She was predeceased by her husband Michael, her parents, Harry and Ruth Brake; and brother Harry Brake.
