Obituary of Nicholas Patrick COTTER

Nicholas Cotter of Calgary, AB, passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2020 at the age of 89 years.

Nicholas was born in Roscommon Town, Ireland, to Nicholas Patrick Cotter of Abbeyfeale, County Limerick and Bridget O'Brien of Kiltoom, Roscommon. He was one of twelve children. After graduating high school, Nick worked as a journalist for a local newspaper in Roscommon, then Dungannon, Ireland before moving to London, England where he worked as a Journalist until 1957. He immigrated to Canada in 1957, and continued to work as a Journalist and editor for various media until he retired in Calgary.

Nicholas is survived by: his brother Donal; sons, Thomas (Karen) and Brendan (Kathryn); daughters, Jocelyn (Trevor) and Katharine (Markus); as well as six grandchildren, Kate, Kaitlin, Erin, Oliver Liam and William; and three great-grandchildren, Ted, Thomas and Malachi.

He was predeceased by his wife Danielle Lord Cotter.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church (1307 – 14th Street S.W., Calgary, AB) on Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at 10:00 a.m., Graveside Service to follow at Sacred Heart Columbarium.
