Obituary of Anne Westie CZARNACKI (nee Falconer)

August 22, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

Anne Czarnacki of Calgary, AB, passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2020 at the age of 93 years.

Anne came to Canada as a young war bride in August of 1946 after marrying Leonard Fendall in Kirkcaldy, Scotland. Leonard died in 1961. Anne was employed at Eatons, and after taking evening typing classes at Henderson College she got employed at The Alberta Government Telephones as the proof reader and Stats clerk.

Anne was always proud that she was born in Kirkcaldy, Scotland, the birth place of Adam Smith, the first world wide economist. Anne served on the women’s Land Army in Dunfermline, Scotland, which was the birth place of Andrew Carnegie.

Anne is survived by her two daughters, Leona (Sid) Squance and Sheila Fendall (Bill); grandchildren, Lisa Squance, Rodney Squance, Jeff McCullough, Tina Hill, Lyndon Fendall and Grady Fendall; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and sister Jean (Bobby) Hunter in Alloa Scotland.

Anne was predeceased by her husband of forty-nine years, Stanley Czarnacki, on December 20, 2016, her son Dennis Fendall on April 12, 2014, her daughter Joyce Steen on November 25, 2014, and son-in-law Robert Steen on June 10, 2020.
