Condolences
Throughout my childhood I remember Bert as always having a smile and a great laugh. My parents Ann & Neil Bayers spent a lot of time with Bert & Effie when I was young. I remember they threw the best parties and always knew how to have fun. Even as I became an adult they still stayed “young” in my eyes. My last time seeing Bert was at my parents 50th Anniversary in 2017. We had great conversations & laughs and shared stories of our separate experiences at Burning Man. I wasn’t surprised to learn they went there - I admire Bert’s sense of adventure. He won’t be forgotten and will be missed. Sending love to Effie and family. - Dawn Bayers
We are very saddened to hear of Bert’s passing and send our condolences to his family. At Emerald Cove, there was a running joke that you had to have a passport to cross over to the American or Canadian side of the road. Bert has been our neighbor on the American side stating he held dual citizenship. We will All miss seeing our Canadian friend this year and the years to come. Bert is no longer in pain and may he sail on exploring the Heavens. Sending you all love and hugs from the Emerald Cove Americans.
We have many happy memories with both Bert & Effie from camping to house parties to dinners and spending quality time. Neil and Bert met through the Calgary School Board over 40 years ago. They took accounting courses while at the school board which helped launch Neil’s business career. Bert’s laugh and joyous nature will be missed. Sending lots of love to Effie & family.
Effie, I am so sorry to learn of Bert’s passing but am happy to know that he was able to do it “his way”. I have such fond memories of working with him. I also remember the great times that I had skiing with the two of you and Marie. Take care my friend.

Sending my love to Effie, Sundie, Dean Chris and Danni. Bert’s caring, helping and giving nature affected many people. I loved the way he and Effie made the most of life. He seemed to turn his hand to anything. Rest In Peace Bert. A life well-lived. Xxxx
Peace be with you Bert and may your next adventure be as full as your one on this earth. Strength and courage to Effie, Dean, Sundie, Chris and Dani.
Marnie Cardell and family
Effie, Dean and Sundie, our condolences you and all family members. Many wonderful memories of Bert when I was assigned to Central Memorial as School Resource Officer and many years later and meeting extended family members in Nova Scotia.
