Obituary of Doreen   Lucille DRAKE

January 12, 1940 – Vancouver, British Columbia 
September 6, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

Doreen Drake of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 6, 2020 at the age of 80 years.

Doreen married Edward “Ted” Drake on July 2, 1960 and they enjoyed fifty-seven years together before Ted’s passing in July of 2017. Doreen grew up in Southern Alberta near the farming community of Carstairs, AB. She worked for the Alberta government in the latter half of the 1950’s.With her marriage to Ted, Doreen dedicated herself to being a loving wife and mother. 

Jumps between Edmonton, Dawson Creek and Calgary saw the birth and growth of their 4 children. Doreen was very involved with the Catholic Women’s League (CWL) through St. Gerard’s Parish receiving a fifty year service award from the CWL. Doreen enjoyed travelling to Las Vegas and Hawaii being two of her favorite destinations. She enjoyed loving her children, grandchildren,
family and friends.

Doreen is survived by her children, Brenda (Mike Babulic) Drake, Michael (Anabelle) Drake, Nancy (Steve Defer) Defer and Linda Drake; grandchildren, Matthew Defer, Nicole Defer and Simon Defer; sister Joyce Casebeer, and brothers,Tom Doherty and Ron Dimmer; Doreen was predeceased by her husband Ted, sisters, Lois and Pat, and brother Don.

Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McInnis & Holloway (Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive SW, Calgary, AB) on Friday, September 11, 2020 at 7:00 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Gerard’s Catholic Church (8944 Elbow Drive S.W., Calgary, AB) on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. There will be no reception due to Covid 19 restrictions.
