Condolences
To the Twidale & Barrie Family:
When we lose a loved one here on earth, we gain an angel in heaven that watches over us. My most sincere condolences to each of you.
No words will ever do justice to the impact Della left on my life. We met almost 40 years ago at the Calgary Herald where we both worked and have been close friends ever since.
Della and I shared the day-to-day events in our life and could talk about anything. As a matter of fact her youngest son Paul said to her one day that he knew why we were friends; we both liked to talk a lot. She would bring this up every now and then and we both would break out into laughter because he was right. We could chat for two hours and for us it would be as though a few minutes had passed. I was fortunate enough to be her friend and it was so easy for me to be a friend to her.
Della will always be in my heart with the many memories and laughter we shared together.
Dear Twidale and Barrie families,
Please accept my heartfelt sympathy on the loss of your dear Adela (Della).
May your memories sustain you at this very difficult time. Just remember her troubles now are ended.
Adela was a truly determined person, kind, generous and joyful despite life's ups and downs.
As a friend, she always kept in touch throughout the years and it has been a great blessing to have known her. I will miss her dearly. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
To the Barrie family,
I was sorry to hear about Della passing away, but glad that she ‘slipped away’ painlessly and peacefully to meet with some members of her family and perhaps some friends.
As I write this tribute about Della, I remember she was a person who others could talk to effortlessly, as she had genuine feelings and made you feel special. She also loved and cared deeply for her family and friends.
I remember her practically each day, by the picture she gave me when my Mother passed away. It was the one from her obituary which she cut and put in a simple wood frame which I still have on my desk until today. It was part of her persona to give things that provided everlasting joy, besides being loving, caring and kind. Coupled with this, she had an infectious laugh and smile and one couldn’t help but laugh and smile with her. I loved her candor when she said exactly and precisely what she felt was right, and often times, I feel that I picked up this trait from her in my earlier years of knowing Della well.
In closing, I would like to mention that even as I’m shedding tears for your loss, I’m grateful to have met one of the best persons on my life’s journey. Please accept my deepest condolences.
