Condolences
Dear Lydia and family,
I was shocked and saddened to recently learn of Derek's passing. I hadn't seen Derek for a few years but enjoyed catching up every time we crossed paths. I worked with him at Rising Resources many years ago. He was so much fun to work with and always had a smile on his face! My deepest condolences to the entire family. Derek was great guy that was taken way too soon. Rest in peace friend <3
Norm, Judy & the Riddell Family
We were saddened to hear of Derek's passing. That is so tough to take and at such a young age. Our hearts ache for both of you and for Lydia and the kids. Our prayer is that you will find comfort and peace in the following days. Hang onto each other, God and your memories. Love from Les & Sharon Buckmaster
Norm and Judy,
We are so sorry to hear that you have lost your son, Derek. Such a tragedy at such a young age.
Our sincere condolences.

My deepest sympathy to the Riddell family. I am saddened to hear of Derek’s passing. I am fortunate to have known Derek and have had the opportunity spend some of our formative years together growing up in Carlyle. While we ran in different circles in high school, when our paths did intersect, it was always great to spend time with him, to create a memory for which there are many and have a laugh as his sense of humor was contagious. As time when on, it was always nice to bump into him every now and again travelling though the Plus 15’s and to catch up if only of minute or two. He was a good and kind soul who will be missed greatly.
Lydia, Jess and family. We were saddened to hear of Derek’s passing. I remember him mostly as the guy at the end of the rink with the camera! He became the unofficial camera man for the team and Thanks to him I have some great pictures of my daughter playing hockey, which are way better then any I could have taken! Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this difficult time.
I had the pleasure of working with Derek while he was at Eavor. Even though I only knew him briefly, his charisma and good nature made it seem like I had known him for years.
I often referred to him as “ Little John”.
My condolences to all family members.
Derek was a great person and I am glad I knew him.

Lydia and all the Riddell family,
I am so sorry for your loss . I worked with Derek for over 10 years at Rider and RMP. We were a family and he will be missed He was meticulous and kind and funny and a positive energy to be around. We shared many laughs and many great times over the years. He will be dearly missed. Thinking of you and your family... Take Care, Shannon Mick
Dear Lydia and family, it was a shock to hear of Derek’s sudden passing - Derek and I met at Rising and Gardiner and kept in touch for many years after that but I lost touch after RMP was sold and also I retired back in 2015 - Derek had a great sense of humour and we always loved sharing oil patch stories - best wishes to you and the family - healing will be tough but always remember his smile and sense of humour
Dear Lydia, Jonathan, Jessica & Jordan; Norm & Judy; Jody & Jeff and girls; Jared & Tammie and family.
Mark and I send our deepest condolences over this heart-wrenching experience of Derek's illness and quick passing, which has been traumatic for all of you. As a family extension, we are here to support you and shoulder your pain and we will keep in close touch as the days, weeks and months ahead. As I remember Derek, I smile thinking of his quick wit, tremendous sense of humour, genuine creativity and being a generous friend. After 30 years, I still can't sing "We wish you a Merry Christmas" without cracking a smile and chuckling, as I think about Derek, Jared and I walking around Carlyle one Christmas Eve enjoying the fresh prairie air, the company of good friends, the safety of a small town and the buzz off fine whiskey! His presence was immense and he will be tremendously missed by family and friends alike.~ Peace be with you, big guy!
Fondly, Shannon Paul-Jost and Mark Jost
So very sorry to hear about Derek's passing. I worked with Derek at Rising Resources and Gardiner and can honestly say I have never worked with a nicer guy! Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with Lydia and the kids! He truly adored his family! Derek will be missed by many!

I am sorry for your loss, my deepest condolences.
Jo Ann and myself would like to offer our condolences to all of the Riddell family, on the loss of Derek. My family farmed in the Fillmore area, and the Riddell name was known by all in the area.
My thoughts and prayers to the whole Riddell Family. A quick memory - back in 2014 I shaved my head for my cousin who was going through treatment for cancer in the US and had no coverage. I sent out a fund raising email to friends and with in 2 minutes of sending it, Derek called me and said in Derek fashion "I'm in!". With a generous heart he was my biggest contributor. He will truly be missed!

Lydia, Jonathon, Jessica, Jordan and all of Derek's Family,
We are so saddened to hear of Derek's passing and we are sending our condolences to all of you. We worked with Derek for many years at Poco and Rider. Derek was always kind, he was always happy, Derek was the first to be concerned for others, and he was the one guy who could always make everyone "belly" laugh. When Derek found out I was from Saskatchewan, we shared many laughs about the "Moosehead" at Kenosee even though we never knew each other back then. He always said to me, "Stay Sasky"! Kevin and I will never forget the good times shared we shared with him. Rest easy, Derek.

I worked for Derek for 3 years with RMP Energy. He was the most reasonable and best natured man I ever worked for in my life.
He will be missed by many, many people. So very sad!
Lydia, Jonathan, Jessica and Jordan and the entire family, we are so sorry to hear of Derek's passing. Derek was a great friend who was always there to make you laugh and he made you feel very special when you were around him. He made our Friday afternoon golf games at Bearspaw very entertaining with the stories, the music, the Derekisms, and of course the bottle of "grape" on the 19th hole. The world has lost a wonder man but the memories we have will always be cherished and never forgotten.
Derek, Rest in Peace my special friend.
Del and Shannon Robostan
Our very sincere and deepest condolences to Norm and Judy and entire family. We were so shocked and saddened to hear about Derek. May he Rest In Peace. Sending hugs and prayers to all.

I worked with Derek for a few years in the RMP fields near Fox Creek. He was a great leader in my opinion, patient and understanding. Sorry for your loss.
So sorry to hear of Derek’s passing. Thoughts are with his family and my deepest condolences. He was a fun, talented and good man. I have many memories from our Sait days that will be cherished.
Words cannot express my sadness for Lydia, Jonathan, Jessica & Jordan and all the families in your loss of Derek. He always made people feel special and I so appreciated all the margaritas he made me. Also I always appreciated knowing the Riddell family were so close I’d I ever needed anything when I was at Shauna & Rob’s house.
My deepest sympathy.
Sincerely,
Barbara Keller (Shauna’s mum)
