Obituary of Wilfred "Wilf" Anthony PARKINSON
January 18, 1932 – Fleetwood, England
September 21, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta
Wilf was born in Fleetwood, England on January 18, 1932 to Burt and Betty (McParland) and was called Home to be with the Lord on Monday, September 21, 2020 at the age of 88 years. He passed peacefully at home with his family at his side.
Fleetwood was home for Wilf and his four siblings (Jo, Frank, Wyn and Ann). A trip to visit his brother Frank in 1960 would change Wilf’s path. While Frank returned home, Wilf made Canada and specifically Calgary home. Wilf enjoyed a successful teaching career with the Calgary Separate School Board and was an active member and volunteer of the St. Michael’s Community for over 60 years. The Church was a very important part of Dad’s life and his faith helped keep him positive in his final days.
Wilf will be forever loved and remembered by his three children: Peter (Cyndi), Anne (Ed Thumath), and Barbara Siebel; his grandkids, Riley, Quinn, Kyle and Shaye, his three sisters; sisters-in- law; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins in England. Wilf was predeceased by his parents, and brother Frank.
A Funeral Mass will take place at St. Michael Catholic Community (800 85 St SW, Calgary, AB T3H 4C7) on Thursday, October 1, 2020 at 11:30 a.m. With attendance limited to 100 and the requirement to have a list of attendees, we would ask those wishing to attend register via email parkinsonp189@gmail.com.
