Obituary of Richard Ernest GLASS

October 2, 1935 – Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan

September 21, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

Richard Glass, beloved husband of the late Aubrey Glass of Calgary, AB passed away peacefully at the age of 84 on September 21, 2020, after a courageous battle with heart and lung disease. 

Richard was born in Moose Jaw, SK.  He met the love of his life, Aubrey in Renous, NB at the age of ten. They were married on December 30, 1954 and for sixty-five years they shared everything life could offer – together.

Richard had a fulfilling career as an accountant for forty-three years with Trimac Limited. He was also an active member in the Kinsmen Club of Calgary. Richard enjoyed travelling and cruising the world with his beloved wife Aubrey.  Throughout his life, he participated in hockey, baseball, curling and golf.  He so enjoyed sharing a round of golf or a game of crib with his children and grandchildren.  Richard’s passion was the love for his family and there was a twinkle in his eye whenever his grandchildren and great-grandchildren came for a visit.

His unconditional love, kindness and generosity will be remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.  

Richard is survived by his children, Debbie Aldridge, Dianne Burnand (Peter), Ric Glass (Angela) and Jeff Glass (Laura).  In addition Richard has nine grandchildren, Traci Gonzalez (David), David Aldridge (Brittany), Kyle Steele (Nicole), Sean Burnand (Jennifer), Amy Vansickle (Paul), Sarah Burnand, Ryan Glass (Tara), Kayla Stellar (Ryan) and Tyler Glass; and fourteen great-grandchildren, Camilo, Eliana, Brooks, Spencer, Isla, Clayton, Carson, Addison, Britton, Marcus, Emmett, Madyson, Donovan, and Victor.  Richard is also survived by his sister, Shirley Crittenden and brother James Glass (Gloria).

He was predeceased by his wife, Aubrey, parents James and Alice Glass, his brother Gordon (Audrey) Glass, his sister Anne McCaig; brothers-in-laws, JR (Bud) McCaig and Lloyd Crittenden, and son-in-law Geoffrey Aldridge.
