Obituary of Magdalene KESSLER

Magdalene Kessler of Calgary, AB, passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2020 considered to be 96 years of age. 

Magdalene was born Sept 24, 1924 in Oppeln, Germany. She attended elementary school and worked on the family farm. In 1959, she came to Canada and joined her parents in Regina. She became a Canadian Citizen in 1969. Magdalene worked in housekeeping at the hospital in Regina retiring in 1989. In 1996, she moved to Calgary to be closer to family. Magdalene was always an avid gardener, successfully growing roses and tomatoes in Calgary. She was well known for her baking, regularly supplying family, friends and neighbours with tasty treats. Magdalene was also a prolific dishcloth knitter. Her other hobbies included needlepoint, sewing and crocheting.

Magdalene is survived by her sister Peggy Pingot of Calgary, AB, four nieces, Ingrid Jost, Reingard (Hannes) Haenig of Germany, Annette Pingot (Murray Sykes) of Calgary, AB and Lucia (Scott) Henrich of Hawaii; six grand-nieces and nephews and six great-grand-nieces and nephews in Calgary and Germany. She was predeceased by her sister Maria Jost of Germany and her parents, Fritz and Cecelia Kessler of Regina, SK.
