Obituary of Ruby Violet RELF (nee Parkes)

March 24, 1922 – Winnipeg, Manitoba
September 30, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

Ruby Violet Relf of Cochrane, AB, sadly passed away on Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at the age of 98 years.

Ruby was born in Winnipeg, MB on March 24th, 1922. Ruby was married to husband George Raymond Relf for fifty-two years until his passing in 1991. She moved to Cochrane, AB in 1997 to live with her daughter Joan and son-in-law Mark and granddaughters, Amber and Britny.

She enjoyed seeing the world. She was particularly fond of New Zealand. Her favorite song was “Forever Young” by Rod Stewart and her most heard saying was “Damn Cat!”

She is survived by her sons, Clifford (Carol), Doug (Darlene), and Wayne (Linda);  her daughters, Dale (Mike), and Joan (Mark); her grandchildren, Scott (Jean), Todd (Amanda) Olmer (Lorraine), Randy (Susan), Mark (Donna), Daryn, Lance, Chad (Xandria), Lindsay, Gary (Erin), Melissa (Todd), Amber (Eric), and Britny (Rob); many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sister Joan (Harry) and brother Ben (Irene)

Ruby was predeceased by her daughter Barbara, husband George “Raymond”, granddaughter Lorna and grandson Corey.

Cremation has taken place and a private family internment will take place at a later date. When we see the pelicans at the locks at Lockport..
We will remember you.
When we hear “Forever Young” by Rod Stewart..
We will remember you.
When I have that perfect cup of tea..
I will remember you.
When we see the perfect Lemon Meringue Pie...
We will remember you
When we see/do a crossword puzzle..
I will think of you.
When we travel again and I fill out a postcard to send back to Patrick & Curtis…
I will think of you.
The next time Curtis has a yogurt we know you are having one with him.
Next time you have a hot chocolate make sure there is marshmallows in it and give grandma a cheer.
When we vote out “Trudeau”… I know she’ll be voting him out from above.
You may not be walking the earth but will be forever in our memories.
Today as I drove to work, there was a beautiful rainbow to guide your way home.
