Obituary of Richard (Rick) Philip UNDERWOOD

Richard Underwood, beloved husband of Sylvia Underwood (nee Christensen) of Calgary, AB passed away at home on Thursday, October 8, 2020 at the age of 71 years.

Rick was born in Edmonton, AB on July 5, 1949.

He moved to Calgary, AB, in 1974, with his wife and two children.

Rick married his childhood sweetheart, Sylvia Christensen, in 1967.

He was a proud member of Alcoholics Anonymous, having thirty years sobriety.

Rick had a passion for woodworking, gardening, and had a wide knowledge of the world around him.

Rick enjoyed vacationing, travelling to Mexico, across Western Canada, and to Vegas but his favourite vacation spot was Cuba.

One of Rick’s favourite saying was “the responsibility lays with the person that it bothers the most”.

He will be most remembered for his compassion, wisdom, and sarcasm.

Besides his loving wife, Sylvia, Rick is survived by two daughters, and one son-in-law, Tammy Underwood, Cindi Rosenau and Wayne Kingswell; five grandchildren, Trevor Underwood, Dallas Underwood, Seantae Underwood, Matthew Rosenau, and Jessica Rosenau; two great-grandchildren, Aurora Underwood and Talia Underwood. Rick was predeceased by his father Leonard Underwood and his mother Irene Underwood.
