Stuart MONSON

Obituary of Stuart Carey MONSON

July 24, 1959 – October 13, 2020

It is with sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Stuart Monson on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at the age of 61 years, after a courageous battle against cancer.

Stuart was born and raised in Calgary, AB where he spent his formative years attending the Calgary Jewish Academy, Melville Scott and Ernest Manning Schools. After graduating from the University of Winnipeg, and returning to Calgary, Stuart met his wife Janet, and together they had two children.

Stuart and Janet owned and operated Amigo’s Pizza for a number of years. After they sold the take-out restaurant, Stuart spent 20 years working in the cell phone industry, using his hard work ethic, knowledge of his craft, sense of humour, and honesty to build up relationships that would serve him well into the future. He worked his way up to be a working partner with Telus and Rogers and was always one of their top salesmen. Over the last 9 years, Stuart worked at The Brick, using his skills and considerable customer base to further enhance his top salesmanship record and loyal reputation.

Stuart was not all work and no play–he loved going to the gym every day and enjoyed hiking, biking, playing hockey, tennis and golf.

Stuart spent this last year living life to the fullest, spending precious time with his family and many friends, and getting as many rounds of golf in as possible.

Stuart is survived by his ex-wife, Janet; daughter, Sara Monson; son, Alex Monson; brother, Harvey (Marilyn) Monson; sister, Barbara Davis (Alan) and his nieces and nephews.

Stuart was predeceased by his parents, Vivian and Mort Monson.

Stuart will be forever missed and lovingly remembered.

A private family funeral service will take place today, Thursday, October 15, 2020.

The family would like to thank the wonderful doctors, nurses and staff at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre and the Chinook Care Centre Hospice for their exceptional care and kindness during these difficult times.

If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made to a charity of your choice.
