Obituary of Willemina "Willie" TER BERG

Willemina “Willie” Ter Berg passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on Saturday, October 10, 2020 at the age of 86 years. She will join her husband Leo, who passed away in 2004.

She was born in Semarang, Indonesia and survived WWII in a concentration camp. She went on to become a geological secretary in the Netherlands where she met and married Leo Ter Berg in 1959. They immigrated to Canada and raised three boys in Calgary, Alberta. Willemina made a terrific life for herself, truly enjoying the company of her Dutch-Canadian friends and Leo’s co-workers and their families from Triad-BP Canada. She played and taught tennis, travelled extensively with her family, volunteered for over thirty years as a Meals on Wheels driver, and more recently made friends as a very open and engaging bridge player and line dancer. She relished her independence, regularly rode her bike from her condo overlooking Fish Creek Park, and enjoyed walking at Glenmore Lake with her friends Bette and Dale.

She is survived by her older sister, Koosje Noltes and her three boys, Robert (Shikha), Mark (Peggy), and Denis (Zoe); and her three grandchildren, Nicholas, Christopher and Alex.

A Celebration of Willie’s Life will be held at (Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive SW, Calgary, AB) on Sunday, October 25, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow at the funeral home.
