Obituary of Eva-Maria FUCHS

January 1, 1941 – Berlin, Germany

October 12, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

Eva-Maria, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Monday, October 12, 2020 at the age of 79 years.

Eva-Maria was born in Berlin, Germany on New Years Day 1941. She studied Paediatric nursing at a German University and loved her profession of caring for others.  When she moved to Canada she would use her training to tend to the elderly in long term care facilities. 

Eva-Maria immigrated to Canada and married Karl in 1962. Eva-Maria and Karl raised their family of four boys in Sherwood Park.  She was very active in the Catholic Church in Sherwood Park until 1997 when she retired to Creston, BC until 2016.  She and Karl then moved to Calgary to be closer to family. She always maintained her close connection with the Catholic church wherever she lived.

Eva-Maria enjoyed being very active and enjoying getting out for walks and loved spending time with family and friends

Besides her loving husband Karl of fifty-eight years, Eva-Mara is survived by four sons and three daughter-in-laws, Bernie of Calgary, AB, Chris and Tawny of Sherwood Park, Stephen and Gudrun of Calgary, AB and Robert and Richelle of Calgary, AB. She also loved thirteen grandchildren, Michelle, Adrianna, Markus, Christian, Kaysen, Lyra, Meaghann, McKenzie, Nadine, Taylor, Kianna, Kaiden, and Olivia; and five great-grandchildren, Carson, Audry, Eda, Erik and Jakob.

Eva-Maria is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law Johannes and Marion Packenius of Germany, and sister Agnes Schaub of Sherwood Park, AB; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She was predeceased by two brothers, Franz and Carl Packenius and sister, Anna Stock.
