Obituary of Grigorij (Grigory) STACHEYCHUK

January 2, 1952 – David-Gorodok, Belarus
October 15, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

With great sadness, we announce the passing of Grigory Vasile Stacheychuk on Thursday, October 15, 2020, at the age of 68 years.

Grigory was born on January 2, 1952, in David-Gorodok, Belarus. He was married at the age of 25, to Elena Smuzko. They had just celebrated their forty-three years of marriage on October 8th.

He served in the Belarussian Army for two years, started his own company, and had two daughters. Grigory moved the whole family to Canada in 1990, where he started a new chapter in his life. Over the years he had a very successful construction company. Never one to settle, he always had a new project on the go, and there was always a new idea.

Although he came to love Canada, his heart was always in Belarus. Over the last number of years, he split his time between the two countries. Recently, Grigory finished his dream house in Belarus. He enjoyed fishing, helping out his family, and his bees.

Grigory was predeceased by his daughter Alevtina and his parents, Vasile and Anna.

He will be extremely missed by his wife Elena, daughter Anna, his sister, and his brother. He will also be survived by his nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; as well as godchildren, cousins, and all of his Canadian family and friends. He was well-loved.

Rest in Peace Papa. You will always be a part of my heart and soul.

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Crowfoot, 82 Crowfoot Circle NW, Calgary, AB) on Tuesday, October 20, 2020, at 7:00 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be held at St. Vladamir Ukraine Church (404 Meredith Road N.E., Calgary, AB) on Wednesday, October, 21st 2020 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen's Park Cemetery. Please let Anna know if you are able to attend the reception at 2:00 p.m. at The Village: Brentwood's Lifestyle Centre (4039 Brentwood Rd NW, Calgary, AB). There will be a food and beverage service.
