Obituary of Christina Johanna VAN REEKUM

Christina Van Reekum (nee Ament) of Calgary, AB, passed away on Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at the age of 87 years.

Christina was born in the Netherlands on September 3, 1933.  She immigrated to Canada in 1955.  She married Bert Van Reekum in 1955 and they had four children.  The family lived in Calgary and Olds, AB.

Christina graduated from Mount Royal College with a diploma in Recreation.  During her life she worked as a beekeeper, lifeguard, swimming teacher, seniors’ advocate and business owner.  Christina accomplished much through her life and was particularly proud of her spirituality and becoming a pastor in her church.  She presided over many weddings and funerals for family and friends.

Christina is survived by Herman and Shelley Van Reekum, Rixta and Floyd Moritz, Arnold and Shelly Van Reekum, and Christine Taylor; and their children and grandchildren. Christina was predeceased by her husband Bert Van Reekum in 2015.
