Ron DUPONT

Obituary of Ron Francis DUPONT

January 3, 1951 - October 16, 2020

It is with heavy hearts that we announce that Ronny Francis Dupont passed away on Friday, October 16, 2020. He was the precious husband of Joanne (Matusko) and treasured father of Dallas and his wife Tanya and their two daughters, Kaylee and Rachel, and Jeffrey and his partner Holly Heggie. He was the only son of Evelyn and Frank Dupont, and the only and much-loved brother of Bonnie Dupont (Barry Bultz) and Collette Dupuis.

Ron was born in Swift Current, Sask, on January 3, 1951. He was raised in that area, moving to Calgary when he was 18 years of age. Here he met Joanne, the love of his life, and together they created a home and family. Ron was happiest surrounded by family and friends, either playing cards or at the BBQ and pouring a generous drink for a guest. He will be remembered always for his warmth and generosity of spirit. Early in his career, he and Joanne owned Fan and Motor Supply, which they later sold. He then went to work for James Electric for the last 25 years of his career and made many friends among his customers and colleagues. Ron and Joanne were involved in raising and showing purebred, registered dogs for many years. Ron enjoyed his life; he enjoyed their acreage outside of Calgary where he and Joanne raised the boys. Later, he especially enjoyed their home in Mexico; he and Joanne loved watching the sunsets and spending quality time together. It was their dream to retire there.

Ron was predeceased by his father, Frank Dupont, his mother Evelyn (McLachlan) Yake as well as his stepfather, Desmond Yake, and his grandparents and several aunts and uncles. He is survived by his loving wife Joanne, of 43 plus years, their two sons, Dallas and Jeff, sisters, Bonnie and Collette, and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Anne and Joe Matusko, as well as brothers-in-law, Wayne Matusko (Colleen) and Darry Matusko (Tracy). He is also survived by his niece Kathryn Dupont and son, Trevor, niece Sara (Taylor) Hayden and children, Bennett and Archer, and nephew Brent (Ashlee) Matusko and children, Karlee and Blakely. He is also survived by three Aunts, Betty Willson of Parksville, BC, Lily Kerr of Victoria, BC and Mona Jahnke of Swift Current, Sask., his father Frank's remaining siblings. As well, he leaves numerous cousins in the Dupont, McLachlan, and Matusko families.
