Obituary of Donald Robert POOLE

March 27, 1926 – Brandon, Manitoba

October 24, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

Don Poole, of Calgary, AB, passed peacefully on Saturday, October 24, 2020 at the age of 94 years.

In his life, Don had many careers. He was a farmer, a business owner, an insurance salesman, a tax filer and an auctioneer. He kept himself busy in his retirement years by assisting friends and fellow church members, using skills he developed throughout his lifetime.

Don had many lifelong friends. He was a true extrovert, never happier than when he was with friends.  Helping others is what he lived for. He loved a good joke and one-liners could have him laughing robustly.
Reading, listening to CBC Radio (volume up), and talking to friends on the phone were his past times. The last years of his life, he spent less time reading, listening to the radio and talking on the phone. He made some new friends at Trinity Lodge and then at Millrise Seniors Village. These new friends, along with his old friends, kept him engaged and provided him quality of life.
Dulcina Hospice provided a beautiful end of life environment. The peaceful ambiance along with the kind and helpful hands of the staff made his days very comfortable. He had visits from several of his grandchildren and great grandchildren, in whose hearts he will live on. He left this world surrounded by kindness and love.

Don is survived by his daughters, Barbara Prete (Alan Green), Brenda Pomerance (Barrie) and Patricia Loan (Rod Barker); and his son David Poole. He also leaves behind fourteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.

Don was predeceased by two wives, Ethel Madill and Eva Meek; and his son Murray Poole.
