Angelo FIORENTINI

Obituary of Angelo FIORENTINI

February 5, 1931 – Soriano nel Cimino, Italy
October 23, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Angelo Fiorentini on Friday, October 23, 2020. Beloved husband and best friend for sixty-seven years to Ines, has left this earth to join the angels and Saints in Heaven. He peacefully passed away after a courageous fight to stay with us.

He was born on February 5, 1931, in Soriano nel Cimino, Italy to a large, loving family. He immigrated to Canada in 1953 to marry the love of his life, and shortly after apprenticed as an Autobody Journeyman. In 1977, he founded James Autobody and raised his family while working many long hours. His determination, strong work ethic, outgoing and generous personality are just a few words to describe the beautiful man he was. Angelo’s greatest passion was gardening together with his wife. His tomatoes and zucchinis were his pride and joy, and he shared the fruits of his labour with his family, friends and neighbours. He still had dirt under his fingernails when he passed.

He enjoyed having long conversations on the phone with his friends here in Canada, and with family in Italy. He would phone our aunt to remind her that hockey was on television that evening. He would reminisce about the old country and his life at Casa Lonne, and the hardships they endured during the war, but nothing made him happier than Sunday dinners with his family.

We will miss everything about him, his smile, his laugh, his wittiness, his hugs, his “Take care of yourself,” and most of all his wisdom.

“Un belle sogno e buon riposo.
Ti Vogliamo Bene.
Fino a quando ci incontriamo ancora.”

Forever remembered by his sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Carla, and Mike and Jennifer; and his daughter Sandra, the sparkle of his eyes, his grandchildren, Ashley and Matthew; his sister-in-law Silvana Monden, nephew Rod (Mary),  nieces, Debbie (Cory), and Lorena (Marcel); brother-in-law George Kubicek, nieces, Lynn (Rob) and Terry (Marcello); nephew Ron (Spryng), his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Anna and Mirko Pockar, nephew Rob (Melissa), niece Wanda (Brian), and cousins, Bianca Cinel, Paola, Rino, Bruno and Julie and their family. Besides his loving family in Canada, he will be dearly missed by his numerous nieces and nephews in Italy. He was predeceased by his mother Rosa, his father Atillio, his sisters, Giuseppa (Amato), Pasqua (Agusto), Luigina (Leonello), Maria (Julio), Ottavia (Armando), and Vittorio Mescia; parents-in-law, Giovanni and Oliva Monden; brother-in-law Tony Monden, sister-in-law Ida Kubicek, and cousin Evo Cinel, and countless friends.

A private family Funeral Mass will be held at St. Luke’s Catholic Church. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed on Angelo’s obituary at www.McInnisandHolloway.com.
