Francisco “Frank” Calara of Calgary, AB, passed away on Sunday, October 25, 2020 at the age of 83 years. 

Frank was born in Baguio City, Philippines on January 29, 1937. He graduated from the Mapua Institute of Technology with a degree in Civil Engineering. He worked as an engineer and ended his career in pipeline estimation. Frank was very passionate about his work. Prior to his career in oil and gas he played a significant role in the building of the Confederation Bridge connecting Prince Edward Island and New Brunswick, along with the ski jump ramps and the Olympic speed skating oval for the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary, AB. He was devoted to his Catholic faith and attended the Latin mass at Saint Anthony’s Parish.

Frank loved bowling and was deeply involved in the bowling community. He also enjoyed golf in the summer with friends and family. His most memorable vacation was to Hawaii with his wife Pat. 

He was proud of his loving and supportive wife of fifty-four years, Pat Calara, and of his kind and accomplished children, Joy (Brad Tyler),Verna (David Webb)  and T.J.  (Lianne) Calara. He was particularly proud of his six grandchildren, Evalina, Alexander, Gabriel, Tristan, Bianca and Juliana. Frank's memory will be cherished by his two sisters: Cora and Jean; three brothers: Tony, Jesse and Dino. Frank will also be remembered by Dan Katkic and Michael Gill. He was predeceased by his loving parents and one brother Teddy. He also had lots of love to give to his grand dogs.

Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road SE, Calgary, AB) on Friday, November 6, 2020 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
