October 29, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

Julane Jensen Heninger passed away peacefully on October 29, 2020 at Skypoint Age Care Calgary, Alberta at the age of 84 years.

She was born July 3rd 1936 to Reed Wesley Jensen and Hazel Matkin Jensen at Barnwell Alberta she is 3rd of six girls.

Julane enjoyed a wonderful childhood being raised in a farming community and attending the Barnwell school. Gardening and growing flowers, baking, cooking and canning fresh produce from the farm was always a joy to her. Her pumpkin pie and apple pie was legendary. Homemade ice cream custard topped it off. Amazing.

Julane married Laurence S. Heninger September 11, 1953 and they have five sons. Together they raised their family in Calgary while serving in many Church callings. A highlight to the boys was Julane serving as the Akela in the 82nd Cub pack which was held in their basement weekly with a pack of 36 boys from the Haysboro neighbourhood and LDS church. Julane also served as Ward and Stake Relief Society President in both Calgary and Santa Maria California. Stake Young Women's President and teacher of Primary, Sunday school and Seminary. Together Laurence and Julane served as Temple workers in the Los Angeles Temple for 11 years.

Laurence passed away in January, 2000. Julane decided to serve a mission for one year and was called to the Pennsylvania Philadelphia Mission at the same time her grandson Michael Heninger was serving. Michael was Julane's District leader.

She married Gordon Chiles January, 2012 and moved to Red Deer each summer while still enjoying the winters in Palm Springs California.

Julane suffered a severe stroke May 2014 and spent her remaining years in full care in Red Deer till Gordon passed away July 31st 2018 then moved to Calgary Age Care Skypoint.

We miss her deeply. She has been an example to her family of service and love to all who cross her path in life.
