It is with great sadness that the family of Karen Joy Ryan, beloved wife of Robert, announce her passing in Calgary on Sunday, November 1st, 2020 at the age of 62 years.

Karen was born on December 24th, 1957 in Calgary, AB, to Frances Averil and Glen Airlie Pascoe. Karen graduated from Crescent Heights High School and shortly after attended S.A.I.T completing a Diploma in Production Accounting. In June of 1979, Karen married her high school sweetheart Robert. Together they made friendships and memories while living in Calgary, Grande Prairie, Medicine Hat, Airdrie, and eventually Okotoks, AB.

Karen’s favorite pastime was baking. She had a genuine knack and would prepare treats for every occasion. Karen loved sharing with family, friends, and co-workers and would bring smiles to the faces of anyone lucky enough to enjoy a freshly baked cookie, pie, or cake.

Karen was an avid blood donor, receiving a certificate of appreciation in 2019 for having donated blood One Hundred times to the Canadian Red Cross. She will be remembered by all who knew her as compassionate and selfless, as a great listener, and for her profound sense of fairness.

In March of 2020, Karen traveled to Maui, Hawaii with her family fulfilling a long-time dream and making memories to be cherished forever.

Karen is lovingly remembered by her devoted husband of forty-one years, Robert Ryan, her sons, Jeffrey (Leanne) of Okotoks, and Michael (Stephanie) of Medicine Hat; and her grandchildren, Easton, Cooper, and Matthew. She will also be dearly missed by her siblings, Jill Umbach (Don), and Jack Pascoe, in addition to numerous extended family and friends and her cat, Slink.
