Obituary of Tamara Kosacz (nee Krasowski)

October 14, 1925 – Smila, Ukraine
October 31, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

Tamara Kosacz, beloved wife of the late Nicholas Kosacz, of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 31, 2020 at the age of 95 years.

Tamara was born in Smila, Ukraine and immigrated to Alberta, Canada after WWII. She initially resided near Lethbridge, later moving to East Coulee, and finally settling in the Renfrew community of Calgary, with her husband and family where she remained until her passing.

Known throughout Renfrew as a warm and loving person, friends and neighbors could often find Tamara outside tending to her flower and vegetable gardens. During the winter months, one would find reprieve at her kitchen table with a hot cup of tea, a sip of Cognac, and her warm and empathetic heart.

Tamara worked at the Calgary General Hospital for over thirty years with great pride and relished the relationships she formed during her time there. She was a member of the SPK (The Polish Combatants Association), an organization which provided community and support for Polish Veterans and their families. She deeply enjoyed her time volunteering at the SPK Hall in Kensington along with her many friends who have already departed, Eva, Helen, Viktor, Olga, Anne and so many others. Tamara was also a founding and devoted parishioner of Parafia Matki Bożej Królowej Pokoju (Our Lady Queen of Peace) Catholic Church. Seeing the parish blossom as a beacon of light for the Polish community in Calgary filled her heart with joy.

Tamara is survived by her son, two daughters, and sons-in-law, her son Allan Kosacz of Calgary, AB, daughter and son-in-law Susan and Barry Vaughan of Langley, BC. Tamara is also survived by six grandchildren and their families, Paul Grandan of Calgary, AB, Mark and Amber Vaughan, Keith and Diana Vaughan and Dean Vaughan, of Langley, BC, Chad and Roslyn Kosacz of Dallas, TX; four great-grandchildren, Lexus, Hunter, Brooklyn, and Grant Vaughan of Langley, BC. Tamara is also survived by a beloved extended family in Kiev, Ukraine, Warsaw, Poland, Australia, San Antonio, TX, the Catherine Echevarria Family of Jacksonville, FL, the Fisher Family of Calgary, AB, and many others whom Tamara cherished throughout her ninety-five years on this Earth.
