Obituary of Christine (Chris) Joan ERICKSON (nee Jiggins)

September 13, 1953 -Swan River, Manitoba
November 1, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

Peacefully, on Sunday, November 1, 2020, at Dulcina Hospice, Christine Erickson, beloved wife of Tim Erickson, lost her brief but courageous battle with cancer at the age of 67.

Chris was an incredibly special person, a wife, a mother, a step-grandmother, a sister, an aunt, and a friend of many. Chris was born in Swan River and raised in Unity, SK.  She returned to Swan River during high school, where she met and fell in love with Tim. Chris grew up in a co-operative household as her father worked for the Unity and Swan River Co-op store.  Chris and Tim have lived in co-operative housing for most of their married life and she became quite active in the administration of both housing co-ops.  In Winnipeg, she was the Volunteer Coordinator, and in Calgary, she was the Office Administrator and became Office Manager for some time as well.  Later in life she became a huge supporter/proponent of the Vape Community in Calgary and is quite well known amongst this community for her dedication and support.

Chris will be missed, and ever remembered by her husband of forty-seven years Tim, daughter Megan, and her step-granddaughters Taylor and Calais. She is also survived by her brother Roy (Gladys) and their sons, Scott (Julie) and Andrew (Jen); brothers-in-law, Brian (Jan), and Geoff (Audrey) and their children, Hannah and Myles; nephew Glen (Erin) and their children, Charlie and Stanley; nephew Mike, and his son Dylan. She was predeceased by her parents, Iris and Jack (David John) Jiggins.

The family will not be holding a service at this time. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to either women in need, or to pet rescue organizations. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed on Chris’ obituary at www.McInnisandHolloway.com.

In living memory of Chris Erickson, a tree will be planted in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Chapel of the Bells, 2720 CENTRE STREET NORTH, CALGARY, AB T2E 2V6, Telephone: 403-243-8200.
