Otto REINKE

Obituary of Otto Ewald REINKE

April 28, 1932 – Guernsey, Saskatchewan
November 8, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

Otto Reinke passed away peacefully at Rosedale Hospice on Sunday, November 8, 2020 after a long-fought and courageous struggle with cancer.

More than anything Otto loved his family and times spent with them were his most precious.  Some of his happiest moments were sharing stories and laughs with them around a home cooked turkey dinner.  He was generous to a fault and would drop everything in an instant to offer a hand in help.

Over the years Otto enjoyed curling, fishing and tending to his yard and flower gardens.  Otto had a life-long love of animals which meant a stray or injured bird, cat or dog always had a place in his heart and often times in his home.

Otto will be deeply missed by his wife of almost 65 years, Doreen (or as he affectionately called her, “Dodie”); his three children, Julie (Kim), Brooks (Ruth), Lesli (Rob); grandchildren, Joel (Niki), Tyler, Charlene and his sister, Irene.

There will be no service held. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed on Otto’s obituary at www.McInnisandHolloway.com. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Rosedale Hospice https://www.hospicecalgary.ca/donatenow or the Tom Baker Cancer Centre through the Alberta Cancer Foundation website: https://www.albertacancer.ca/donate.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the Palliative Team at Tom Baker Cancer Centre and the wonderful staff/End-of- Life Care Team at the Rosedale Hospice who looked after Otto on his final journey.  Their kindness and care will never be forgotten.

In living memory of Otto Reinke, a tree will be planted in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road SE, Calgary, AB T2X 3J3, Telephone: 403-256-9575.
