Obituary of Reginald “Bruce” GREEN

March 24, 1950 – Winnipeg, Manitoba
November 10, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with deep sorrow that we announce that on Tuesday, November 10, 2020, Reginald “Bruce” Green, loving husband of Betty Green and father of Garrett and Jennifer, passed away at the age of 70.

Bruce was born on March 24, 1950, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, to Alfred and Louise Green. He received his certificate in Business Administration from Winnipeg and later obtained his certification in the Chartered Professionals in Human Resources of Alberta. He was a Partner at Ernst and Young, and a Managing Partner of Canadian Career Partners, which he co-founded in 1996 and later was rebranded as Cenera, where he worked until his retirement.

Bruce had a passion for helping people. He thrived in making people’s lives easier and helped those whose careers were put on hold to move forward and achieve other personal and professional goals. He loved to share stories and could tell them for long periods, all while putting people at ease and sharing much laughter. He was known for his quick wit, his infectious smile, and his kind and compassionate spirit. He loved life. He loved his family and would do anything to help them and anyone in need, and gave much advice along the way. His greatest passion was travel. Visiting places that were new to him always inspired him and made him grateful for life. He especially looked forward to spending time in Maui each year, where golfing with old and new friends was the highlight of his vacation.

Bruce is survived by his wife of forty-seven years, Betty; his two children, Garrett (Nancy) and Jennifer; and his two grandchildren, Avri and Cooper. Bruce came from a large family, and he, along with his siblings, Wilma, Ken (Arla), Brenda, Freda (Ernie), Lorraine (Bobbie), Zale (Kathy), always looked forward to the annual “Christmas in July” get-together in Winnipeg to rekindle family ties. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Valerie and John, and Eugene and Katie of BC, and their respective families. He was predeceased by his father Alfred, his mother Louise, and his brother Wayne.

Our sincerest thank you to all of the hundreds of healthcare staff that helped Bruce along his journey. Special thanks to doctors, Dr. Sarah Weeks, Dr. Tyson Warner, Dr. Michelle Geddes, Dr. George Francis, and the staff of Unit 57, Tom Baker Cancer Centre, and Unit 58 Rehabilitation Centre of the Foothills Medical Centre. Our deep appreciation also goes to the EMS and Fire Department as well as the team at the Foothills Emergency Department, who did all they could to help Bruce.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our family and friends who made it their mission to include Bruce in their daily lives and took the time to always be in contact and give support to him and our family. Bruce will be greatly missed by his immediate family, relatives (including many nieces and nephews) both near and far, professional colleagues, and friends.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a Celebration of Bruce’s Life will be held at a later date.

If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed on Bruce’s obituary at www.McInnisandHolloway.com.
