Obituary of Connie Mary RICE (nee Weyers)

August 14, 1938 – Strathmore, Alberta
November 8, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

After a long battle with arthritic pain, we sadly announce the passing of our loving wife and mother Cornelia (Connie) Mary Rice on November 8th, 2020 at the age of 82.

Connie was born in Strathmore, AB, on August 14, 1938. Connie was a telephone operator in Ponoka when she met her husband Jim Rice of the RCMP. After living in numerous small towns in Alberta, they settled in Calgary where Connie was employed by the Court Reporters Annex as their book keeper. Connie accomplished much through her life and was particularly proud of her six children and grandchildren.  Connie loved to travel and visit her family. She will be most remembered for her kindness, fun nature, thoughtfulness and generosity. Connie spent countless hours volunteering her time. Anyone who met Connie loved her.

Connie is survived by her husband Jim Rice, her six children, Jackie, Donna, Scott, Randy, Kelly and Jeff; and her nine grandchildren, Geoff, Devin, Sierra, Whitney, Nick, Ian, Cole, Mia and Catherine. Connie was predeceased by her sister Wilma, father Bill Weyers, stepfather Sarafien Verweire, and beloved mother Annie Verweire.
