Obituary of Judith Elaine STENSRUD

March 10, 1950 – Regina, Saskatchewan
November 15, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

With great sadness our family announces that Judy Stensrud passed away peacefully and surrounded by her loved ones on Sunday, November 15, 2020 at age 70, after a long battle with cancer.

Judy was born in Regina on March 10, 1950 and grew up in Verwood, SK. She had fond memories of playing with her sisters, cousins, and friends on the family farm. Judy studied Education at the University of Regina and met her husband Ken on campus. She taught in several schools throughout Saskatchewan, settled for a time in Saskatoon where her two boys were born, and moved to Calgary where she raised her children and made so many lasting friendships.

Judy enjoyed gathering with her family, getting into mischief with her grandson, spoiling the family’s pets, singing along and dancing to music, walking with friends in Fish Creek Park, and tending to her flower garden. She loved catching up with friends and reminiscing about past adventures, and the family is grateful to all who called or visited to brighten her final months.

Judy will be lovingly remembered by her mother Florence Smith; her sons, Kirk (Michelle) Stensrud and Craig Stensrud (Madison Mayhew); her grandson Isaac Stensrud; her sisters, Kathey (Bill) Mitchell and Brenda Lutz; her sister-in-law Laurine (Rudy) Lackhan; as well as her many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Kenneth Stensrud, her father Fred Smith, and her brother-in-law Jeff Lutz.

A private interment ceremony will be held in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, with a memorial gathering for family and friends to be planned for the spring or summer. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed on Judy’s obituary at www.McInnisandHolloway.com. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the charity of the donor’s choice.

In living memory of Judy Stensrud, a tree will be planted in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area.
