Obituary of Maxwell Gregory RODRIGUES

May 9, 1956 – Chittagong, Bangladesh
November 22, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

Maxwell Rodrigues, beloved husband of Santana Rodrigues (nee Fernandes), passed away on Sunday, November 22, 2020 at the age of 64.

Max was born in Chittagong, the seventh child of eleven born to William and Doris Rodrigues. After schooling and working in Chittagong, he moved to Kuwait to work before immigrating to Calgary, AB. He was very hard working and spent most of his career with CP Rail. Max married in 1984, he and his wife Rita had four beautiful children. Max was a loving and dedicated father. It was a beautiful sight to see him line up his kids and feed them hand to mouth, one at a time. He was physically strong and very playful to the point where he let children bounce on him like a jungle gym.

Max was lucky enough to fall in love a second time and spent his remaining seventeen years with Santana Rodrigues. Together, they built a happy life centered around their deep faith at St. Mark’s Catholic Church. His faith in God was the source of his strength. He tirelessly volunteered his time to those in need when called upon. Max was the type of man who would give you the shirt off his back if you asked for it.

Max loved food and was an accomplished cook. He was very social and loved family gatherings, especially when he could play cards and play his harmonica. Max always had a smile on his face and loved making jokes. He always made time for his nieces and nephews and made sure they knew he was there for them. He was the first to offer his services to anybody in the family that needed help. Max was a gifted linguist and spoke five or more languages.

He is survived by his wife Santana, his children, Lisa-Marie (Mike), Melanie, Nathan, and Audra; his mother Doris, and his siblings, Mervin, Rita, Jean, Noreen, Pamela, Terrence, Mark, Linda and Shayne. Max was predeceased by his brother Lloyd and his father William.

Max you have meant so much to us and will be forever in our hearts. It gives us great comfort to know you are with your father and brother in our Lord’s heavenly kingdom. You are deeply loved and will always be loved.

A private family mass will be held. Maxwell will be laid to rest at Queen’s Park Cemetery in Calgary, on Tuesday, December 1, 2020. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed on Maxwell’s obituary at www.McInnisandHolloway.com .
