Obituary of Aline Noella LACERTE

December 20, 1929 – Rat River Settlement, Manitoba January 6, 2018 – Calgary, Alberta Aline, beloved wife of the late Robert Bruno Lacerte of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2018 in the South Health Campus concluding her battle with heart disease at the age of 88 years. Born in St-Pierre-Jolys, Manitoba (formerly Rivière-aux-Rats/Rat River) on December 20, 1929, she was the daughter of Eugene and Guilda (Préfontaine) Turenne, and step-daughter to Delphine Turenne. Aline trained as a Medical Laboratory Technologist at the St. Boniface Hospital. After marrying Bruno, the family moved from Winnipeg to Montreal, eventually settling in Calgary. Being a fiercely independent spirit, she enjoyed living an active lifestyle and was a well-known figure at her local YMCA. She had a deep love of walking, which lead to many lifelong friendships forged through her daily, brisk, walks. Never one to shy away from a challenge, Aline enjoyed hiking in the mountains, with frequent visits to Banff and several trips to Lauterbrunnen, Switzerland, which held a special place in her heart. Although a private person, Aline found comfort in her faith and enjoyed attending mass when possible. She met adversity head-on with grace and was an inspiration to all who knew her and will be greatly missed. She is survived by her four children and their spouses; Lucille and Larry Graham of Dartmouth, NS, Joanne and Brian Myck of Calgary, AB, Charles and Stephanie Lacerte of Dartmouth, NS and Paul and Adette Lacerte of Calgary, AB; six grandchildren, Jennifer (Jay) Sproule, Jaimie (Darcy) Myck, Gary Amiro, Janis (Jeff) Mader, Kathleen (Derek) Graham, and Christine (Kristof) Serdynski; and five beloved great-grandchildren, Liam, Rowan, Zoe, Ruby, and Andrew. She is also survived by her brother Robert. Besides her loving husband of thirty-three years, Bruno Lacerte, whom she married on July 18, 1953 in St. Boniface, MB, Aline was predeceased by her siblings; sisters, Cécile, Reynalde (Dufresne), Juliette (Lavergne), and Fernande and brothers, Albert, Denis, and Roger who died in childhood. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road S.E., Calgary, AB) on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church (1414 Shawnessy Boulevard S.W., Calgary, AB) on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
