Obituary of Frederick (Fred) Mons KELLER

July 5, 1964 – Calgary, Alberta
November 28, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

Fred Keller passed away suddenly on Saturday, November 28, 2020 at the age of 66.

Beloved son of Hilda Townsend (née Hansen) and Harold Keller, of Calgary, AB, he was born and raised in Calgary.  Fred was known for his amazing encyclopedic memory of dates and events, especially sports facts!  He spent many years working in the seismic industry in Western Canada, finishing that career as a Permit Agent. Fred loved meeting new people and relished the freedom that being self-employed gave him. He completed post-secondary schooling at the Kelsey Institute for Welding & Dalhousie University, for a Managerial Certificate. He enjoyed work as a welder and as the mailroom supervisor for the Calgary Sun. Fred married Trudy Ducommun in 1990, they lived in Saskatoon for several years, had one child and divorced in 2011. Fred’s father Harold Keller, mother Hilda Townsend, sister Anne Deans (née Keller) and stepfather Robert Townsend, passed before him. Fred’s family are his loving siblings, Kathleen Keller and Jason Townsend; and his daughter Sarah Keller.  Fred was incredibly passionate about sports, particularly the Montreal Canadiens. Since 2009, Fred faced insurmountable health issues relating to his kidneys. He had a great sense of humor, was kind and considerate and not a complainer.  While out in the community doing what he loved, Fred succumbed to these issues.  Fred will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
