Obituary of Leona (Mint) KOOTENAY

November 13, 1969 – Morley, AB
December 3, 2020 – Canmore, AB

Leona (Mint) Kootenay, our beloved daughter, niece, sister, auntie and friend, was called home by our Creator on December 3, 2020 at the age of 51 years.

Leona was a kind, fun loving person. She loved children and all of the people she met and became friends with. She loved being outdoors, riding horses and her motorcycle, and playing all kinds of sports, especially fastball. She enjoyed taking long walks with her Goddaughter Tacey Bigstoney and loved passing along traditional teachings to all her nieces and nephews.  She was a humble woman and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Leona is survived by her sisters, Tammy, Yolanda (Floyd), and Rosie; her Goddaughter Tacey (Alex), her brothers, Terry (Margaret), Travis, Shaz, and Mutt; her aunties Clarice Kootenay, Kathleen Poucette, and Mary Jane Beaver, uncle Felix Hunter Beaver (Wanda), and numerous relatives from the Kootenay, Dixon, LaBelle & Mclean, Hunter Beaver families and families from Eden Valley, Big Horn, and Maskwacis. We apologize if we have missed anyone.

Leona was predeceased by her parents, Viola Kootenay and Gordon Hunter Beaver; her brothers, Leland, Keith, and Narvil; grandparents, Joe and Mary Kootenay, Nat and Gertrude Hunter Beaver; and great grandfather Walking Buffalo, and 2 special nephews Lance and Butch.
