Margaret THOMPSON

Obituary of Margaret Isabell THOMPSON

September 18, 1927 – Calgary, Alberta

December 4, 2020 - Calgary, Alberta

Margaret Thompson (nee Robinson), beloved wife of the late, George W. Thompson, of  Calgary, AB, passed away on Friday, December 4, 2020 at the age of 93 years.

Margaret was born in Calgary, AB, on September 18, 1927. She was a member of the Salvation Army at various locations over many years and was cared for in their orphanage as a child. She also volunteered for them; as well as the West Hillhurst Community Association, in many capacities over the years.

Margaret started working at a very young age as a housekeeper, at a diner, and as a babysitter whilst being a stay-at-home mom for her two children. Margaret loved to attend her children's sporting events and other endeavors over the years; and was one of the loudest people cheering them on in the audience. Margaret was a big Stampede Wrestling fan in her younger years and would get quite involved whilst watching the matches.

Margaret's favorite song was “Amazing Grace”, so please think of her when you hear it. She will be most remembered for her devotion to her children and family; and to her church and religious beliefs.

Margaret is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Heather and Tony Schuh; son Rob Thompson; her grandchildren, Breana Gardner and Adam Thompson; and her grandpuppy Teddy. Margaret is also survived by her sister Lorraine Stromotich of British Columbia; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Margaret was predeceased by her husband George, her parents, Bessie (nee Grierson) and William Robinson; her siblings, Bill Robinson, Ann Sherwin (Chuck), and Pat Fontaine (Bud); her niece Linda McLean (Terry), and her granddaughter Tianna Thompson-Schuh.

A Memorial Service will be held sometime in the future when Covid-19 is hopefully no longer a concern in celebrating Margaret and her life. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed on Margaret’s obituary at www.McInnisandHolloway.com.  If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Calgary, Salvation Army, 1731 29th Street SW Calgary, AB, T3C 1M6, online at www.salvationarmy.ca, or by phone 403-410-1112.

The family would like to thank Clifton Manor for their care of Margaret over the past fifteen years.
