Obituary of Najla ABBOUD

It is with broken hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our mom and “tata” Najla Abboud on Friday, December 11, 2020 at the age of 90 years.

Najla was born on August 17, 1930 in Jib Jannine, Lebanon. She was predeceased by her husband Nicholas in 2005. They immigrated to Canada the year they got married. They left the country travelling by ship for a whole month and then landed at the Pier 21 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The next day, they boarded the train on a four day journey to Calgary. They arrived on November 23, 1960 to begin a new life. She loved playing the Arab card game Bosra with her friends and family.

Mom is survived by her children, Albert (Mania) and Georgette (Edwar); her grandchildren, Katina (Bassam), Sayta, Paula (Lanny), Mark, and Pronia;  and her great-grandchildren, Michel, Angelina, Owen, and Noah. She is also survived by her sister, Ghaly Hanna of Calgary.

May her memory be eternal.

Due to the current restrictions on gatherings, the family will be holding a private interment service. A Memorial Service to take place at a later date. The family would like to thank home care giver Laura McNabb for all the years of caring for our mom. We also appreciate the love and care our mom received from the staff at the Mayfair Care Centre for the last year and a half.
