Obituary of Lew Shui YEE

September 17, 1918 – Taishan, China January 1, 2018 – Calgary, Alberta Lew Shui, beloved wife of the late Tong On Yee, passed away on January 1, 2018 at the age of 99 years. Lew Shui was born in Taishan, China in Gee Hong Village. She immigrated to Canada with her son Dick in 1954 to join her husband and her other son in Watrous, Saskatchewan, where they all operated the P.O Café. She moved to Regina in 1966 and worked at various hotels and restaurants and was a member of the Regina Chinese Alliance Church from 1974 until moving to Calgary, Alberta in 2009. Lew Shui lived a simple life. She enjoyed gardening, baking and making Chinese cultural dim sums. She loved sewing and continued to sew her own clothing well into her eighties. She was frugal and never extravagant on personal belongings. She would give generously to her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Her favourite foods were white chicken, tofu, vegetables and fish. Lew Shui is survived by her daughters Wai Oi Tom (Calgary), Rose (Jack) Mah (Vancouver), and Faye (Tony) Mah (Calgary); daughter-in-law Wai Yu Yee (Calgary); nineteen grandchildren, twenty-eight great-grandchildren and fourteen great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her loving husband Tong On Yee and her two sons Mee Chew Yee and Dick Yee. She will be greatly missed by all. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road S.E., Calgary, AB) on Friday, January 12, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. Graveside Services will be held at Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery in Regina, SK on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
