Obituary of Kam Kit CHENG

May 26, 1961 – Hong Kong
December 11, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

Kam Kit Cheng, beloved husband of Suk Yee Cheng (Nee Wong), of Calgary, Alberta, passed away on Friday, December 11, 2020, at the age of 59 years after a 19 month battle with bile duct cancer.

Kam was born in Hong Kong on May 26, 1961. Kam graduated from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Then he obtained his Bachelor Degree and MBA from the University of Plymouth. Kam Kit married Suk Yee in 1989, and in 1992, Evelyn Long Yee was born. He immigrated to Canada on December 12, 2004, with his wife and daughter to start a better life. On October 28, 2019, Kam accepted Jesus Christ as his saviour and was baptized in his home on November 13, 2019. 

Kam accomplished much throughout his life. He was particularly proud of the beautiful family he raised, and his career in manufacturing engineering in Hong Kong and Canada. Two worthy accomplishments of note are achieving his MBA degree, and being granted the President’s Award from his career at Whirlpool.

Kam was an avid musician and tinkerer of all things. His favourite pass time was to sing and play his favourite Hummingbird guitar, with his beloved schnauzer dog Sahbee by his side. He has even created a YouTube channel featuring over 60 songs. Other times, you could find him working on a home improvement project, or deep in focus setting up the latest tech gadgets. He was particularly skilled and proud of his metalwork.

Besides his loving wife, Kam is survived by his daughter Evelyn Long Yee Cheng Best, his son-in-law Michael Kenneth Best, and three pets residing in Calgary, AB. Kam is also survived by his five brothers, Kam Hoi Cheng, Kam Leung Cheng, Kam Hung Cheng, Kam Ho Cheng, and Kam Yuen Cheng; four sisters-in-law, Chuen Ha Wong, Yuk Kuen Cheung, Pik Kan Lui, and King Mui Poon; one sister Mei Mei Cheng and one brother-in-law Kuen Ching Chan, all residing in Hong Kong. Additionally, Kam is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and beloved friends.
