Condolences
Uncle Doug was always a funny, kind hearted Uncle to me. Called me Uncle Harry for a large part of my life as when I was a baby he thought I looked like his old Uncle Harry. He sang, he laughed, he lived life well. I knew him as Uncle Doug but I know he was loved by many and was something special to all those that knew him. Whenever he would visit Auntie Cathie in Princeton BC, he always stopped and visited me and my husband Mark and our twin daughters Emma and Nicola in Penticton,BC. It was always a wonderful visit when Uncle Doug popped in from Calgary. I will miss your singing and stories and Christmas Cards but I’m sure we will visit again for a game of crib. Rest well, enjoy your family reunion. Love Sue, Mark, Emma & Nicola Hopley. Penticton, BC.
While I have not seen Uncle Doug in quite a few years I remember him as a big-hearted and generous man who could never do enough for you. Our family stayed at his place one year while passing through to visit other family members in Saskatchewan. It was Stampede time in Calgary and Uncle Doug made sure we had the opportunity to see and participate in things that we normally would have known nothing about. He also pointed me in the direction of a 24 hour mechanic service so that we could get our van strengthened to pull our tent trailer more easily.
Sandee, John, Janice and Donald, my condolences on the loss of your Dad. He is remembered as a good man and a good father to you all.

Allan and I want to express our condolences about your Dad's passing.
I always enjoyed our conversations with him when out walking in Tretheway Beach,
He helped us a lot during one of our home projects; he was a very kind and knowledgeable gentleman.
It is certainly a sad time when we say goodbye to our parents; hopefully looking back on happy times will cause you to smile.
Best regards,
Joan & Allan Kovacik
I met the Parkin family when they moved to the Elboya neighbourhood in Calgary and Janice joined my junior high school class. I became a fixture at the Parkin house, especially after my family moved to Vancouver and I stayed on in Calgary. Janice's birthday is the day before mine so her family always added me to the birthday celebrations. And I was included for all the holidays too. I remember Mr. Parkin (when you meet an adult as a child, it is hard to let go of the "Mr.") as a warm and wonderful man, husband and father. I also remember his corny jokes. He called me Woozie Suzie - I don't remember the reason but I hope it was just because it rhymed! My sincerest sympathy to Janice, Sandee, Donald and John. He was a fine man who lived a long and good life.

We fondly remember Doug as a very kind and friendly man from our times at the Nani Kai Hale in Maui! In particular we remember him bringing a large bowl of popcorn to our nightly sunset get-togethers. We had not seen him for a few years and we send our condolences to the family. Doug was a true gentleman!

Doug will be missed! He was not only an amazing Employer and Mentor but a Wonderful Friend. Our hearts are heavy as we say our Farewell to this very kind and generous man. I had the pleasure of spending time with Doug on a regular basis often meeting for lunch with friends or off for drives to Sylvan Lake to visit Lynn. He lived life to the fullest and treasured each day. Our hearts go out to his family as they navigate their way through the loss of this Incredible Individual.
Doug was my Business Admin Marketing Instructor at SAIT circa 1972-1973. He taught me well. He must have because I was one of the students to graduate in 1973 with an Honours Diploma - Marketing Major. I remember Doug as being easy going and willing to put in extra time and effort to answer any questions I had after classes or before exams. I am sad to see he has passed on but happy to see he had a long and full life.
'Bless you Doug Parking. Doug and Laurel were friends of my parents going back many years. Dad''s relationship turned into a business one when Doug hired him at Crestview. He was an exceptionally kind man and I have pictures of him when he would attend my parent's Stampede breakfasts each year - the life of the party. Rest in Peace Doug and my sincere condolences to the family.
Doug Parkin was a special individual as he welcomed us always and was very gentle. He took Linda and myself for a great boat ride when we were visiting. His values can be found in his children. We will miss him.
Uncle Doug, was the most cheerful, funny, wonderful uncle a person could ever have. Your family is like my second family. I love you. I know he had a long life and a good one, but I shall miss him dreadfully, all the same. I will have no one to ask, "How is your knee?" You are never too old to feel like an orphan, so I am sending you all my sincerest condolences and love.
Cousin Sharon
