Obituary of Maxine Florence HARDER

November 8, 1933 –Shaunavon, Saskatchewan
December 14, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

Wife, Mom, Grandma, Great-Grandma, and Sister - Maxine passed away on Monday, December 14, 2020, at the age of 87 years.

Born in Shaunavon, SK on November 8, 1933, and raised in Saskatoon, SK, she was right in the middle of eight children. After completing her schooling, Maxine met her future cherished husband, Peter, while working at her first job at FourX Bakery in Saskatoon. They got married on July 12, 1958, and moved to Kitimat, BC where they raised their four daughters.

Maxine enjoyed sports. She played basketball in school then after graduation she enjoyed bowling and watching curling. Maxine was very creative. She often sewed clothes, costumes, doll clothes, and quilts for her kids and grandkids. Maxine always loved to laugh and had a great sense of humour. Her laughter was very present in the many games played over the years. She was always ready to travel, especially if it meant seeing family. Maxine and Peter made many trips to Europe, USA, and Canada to visit their kids and grandkids.

Maxine’s faith was very important to her. She put her faith in Jesus at age twenty-seven. She faithfully desired to follow him in her daily life. A few years ago, a granddaughter asked her what message she wanted to leave her grandkids and kids. Her response was that she wanted them to follow Jesus and one day be together again in heaven.

Maxine was a caring and dedicated wife to Peter for sixty-two years. She was a wonderful mother to Kathie (Rick), Tracy (Bruce), Sheila and Rose (Tom), Grandma to Daneille (Ashwin), Ryan, Luke, Christina, Nathan, Matthew, Isabella, Olivia, Katelyn, and Colin, and great-grandma to Florence and Elliot. Maxine was a beloved sister, especially to her surviving sibling Thelma Potter with whom she had a special relationship.

Maxine was a joyful, funny, encouraging, determined, and independent woman. She was always up for anything and good for a laugh. We will miss her every day.

A private family service will take place. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed on Maxine’s obituary at www.McInnisandHolloway.com.
