Condolences
Uncle Bill always made time for us kids and many learning experiences came our way - he was a good teacher. When I was about 16 he decided to teach me how to shoot a revolver and I almost ended up on my butt. He said I was just as good as some of the recruits. One lesson I needed was how to remove a person bothering me just by using my little finger. I was able to take someone up the stairs and help him thru the door using that method. I was so grateful I had been taught that. Forgotten how now.
I was glad to of had “fridge privileges” and spent many happy days visiting in the Buchanan home.
Brad-your eulogy was wonderful. It brought back many memories as well as events I didn’t know about. My condolences to Aunt Jean, Brad, Bev, Brenda and families. He was an interesting talented and loving man. He is missed by many.
I send my deepest condolences on the loss of your wonderful husband, and father, my Great-Uncle Bill. I am very glad I could be at the service by livestream to pay my respects to a memorable and larger than life person, as Brad so aptly mentioned. I will always remember Uncle Bill's very strong bear hugs, his exuberance, his great laugh and that mischievous twinkle in his eye, he had such a great sense of humour. I will also remember, that he was always interested in people and what their story was, and what made them tick, and he talked to everyone and listened as well, always made everyone feel comfortable. I will never forget the time when we were all living in Winnipeg, and he took me and I think Beverly snowshoeing and taught us how to properly climb and descend a hill with snowshoes, and imparted wisdom he had learned from his time working with indigenous people up in Northern Manitoba. My own daughters never got to know him well but do remember him reading their tea leaves when we went for Chinese food in Toronto. Uncle Bill's spirit lives on in the people whose lives he touched. Sending much love to you Aunt Jean, and all of you Brad, Beverly and Brenda, take care.
