Obituary of Elida (Guica) GUTIERREZ
July 22, 1945 – Matamoros, Mexico
December 21, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta
Elida Gutierrez, beloved mother of Brenda of Calgary, AB, passed away on Monday, December 21, 2020 at the age of 75 years.
Elida as a child was a very responsible girl. She helped her Mum to look after her younger siblings and helped at home doing a nice meal
for all the family. Her best memories were waking up with the sun at the ranch and having fresh milk that was still warm to the touch and
fresh eggs for breakfast. She also loved those times when her father caught fresh fish from the sea and then had them for dinner. She
loved all kinds of food. For her the best part of any celebration was the food. When she cooked, the kitchen had the best smells, always the yummiest, best meals of the day!
Her grandsons Paul and Declan were the joy of her life. They brought out the best in her.
She enjoyed being around her daughter, singing or cooking together in the kitchen or sharing a beauty secret and doing some beauty hacks and tricks to each other. Later on in years, she used to come into the kitchen and just hang around while her daughter was cooking a nice meal, or best of all when there was a dessert involved: Especially when it smelled like there was a fresh cake made by her grandson Declan. Every once and a while she would enjoy spending some time by herself in which she would spend time watching panish language channels on the TV mainly Mexican telenovelas.
Aside from her family, she had a particular love of our pet tortoise “Mimi” whom she loved to feed him multiple times, bathe and pet him. As well the family dog "Winston", whom she would pet and hug.
She was so lucky to travel to different places in Canada as well as Europe but one of the best memories was going to the CAVERN where her favorite band ever “The Beatles” played for the first time. It was an awesome wonderful experience and memory for her!
She was blessed to have lived in wonderful places like Canada and Scotland, and to have met so many wonderful people along the way who treated her with compassion and respect. God bless every single one of them!
During her last days one of the things that made her smile was listening to her grandson Paul playing her a nice song on his guitar.
There will be a private ceremony followed by a memorial yet to be planned once the virus has ended. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed on Elida’s obituary at www.McInnisandHolloway.com.
