Obituary of Donald Hans BERLIN

December 22, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

Donald Hans Berlin, of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at the age of 86 years.

Don was born in White Fox, SK, fifth child of Margery (nee Hicks) and Oscar Berlin on August 29, 1934.  He went to school in White Fox, SK. On June 2, 1953, Don married Nanette (Nettie Plett) in North Battleford, SK. The couple moved to Swift Current, SK, and welcomed their first daughter. Three weeks later, they moved to Moose Jaw, SK, where Don worked for Greyhound. Two years later, Don and Nettie moved to Saskatoon where they increased their family with three more daughters, and a son. In 1975, the family relocated to Calgary, AB, where Don pursued careers in sales & eventually became owner/operator of a taxi business. He retired in his 60’s and had been involved in men’s and boy’s clubs at his church, as well as community groups through the years.  
 
Don is survived by daughters, Jan Nerenberg, Cathy Berlin-Brandley (Curt), Lynda Friesen (Perry), Audra Savage (Andrew) and son Doug Berlin.  He was granddad to Jared Nerenberg, Britany Zielke (Mark), Chelsee Nerenberg; Sarah Friesen, Katelyn Friesen, Rayanne Friesen; Karissa Savage (Frieda), Eric Savage (Justine), Mikylla Hamilton (Joseph), Danae Savage and great granddad to Jaelyn Savage, Josiah Savage, Autumn Savage. He is also survived by brother Bernie Berlin (Deanna) and sister Lori Plotsky. Don is preceded in death by both parents, Margery and Oscar Berlin, brothers, Allan, Ross, Clarence; and sisters, Elaine, Deana and Denise. 


A Memorial Service to celebrate Don’s life will be held at on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. MST, via Zoom. Please email Jan at jann@sasktel.com.
