Obituary of Shirley Georgine LEINWEBER

July 3, 1936 – Calgary, Alberta
December 24, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

Shirley Georgine Leinweber of Calgary, AB, passed away on Friday, December 24, 2020 at the age of 84 years.

Shirley graduated from Mount Royal College and worked in nursing, retail, and retail management. Shirley held a passion for music, literature, and computing technology. Shirley's website, Cybernana.com, achieved several million hits per year when it was actively maintained (2003-2011). She created a small group called "Parrotese" on her website where she featured a new bird submitted by the members every week. She enjoyed reading and creating "fun pages" on her website based on poetry and songs created by others. Additionally she enjoyed sharing her wonderful recipes with the world. Shirley would often speak of her trip to California in her late teens/early twenties when she met Bob Hope (who enjoyed a helping of her oatmeal cookies). Shirley will be most remembered for her loving personality, her wonderful cooking, and a lifelong dedication to her family and close friends.

“To fly as fast as thought, to anywhere that is, you must begin by knowing that you have arrived.” ~Richard Bach - Jonathan Livingston Seagull.

Shirley is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Robert J. Leinweber and Tabia Lee of California; her five grandchildren, Angela Dunphy of Calgary, Jessica Dunphy of Beaumont, Danny Dunphy of Okotoks, Lucia Lee Leinweber, and Wolfgang Lee Leinweber of California; her four great-grandchildren, Julie and Jonathan Klockow of Airdrie, and Peyton and Tristan Seymour of Beaumont; and her son-in-law, Timothy Andrew Dunphy of Okotoks.

She was predeceased by her daughter Betty Lou Dunphy (2013), her parents, Jesse Marie and George Leinweber; and her brother, Robert Roger Leinweber.

Shirley "Cybernana" Leinweber would undoubtedly love to thank all the people who frequented her website through the years. To all those she Loved , she would want to remind how much she loved them, and would ask that she be remembered with fondness, instead of sadness.
