Obituary of Marjorie POINTER

December 24, 1928 – Sintaluta, Saskatchewan
December 23, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

Marjorie Pointer of Calgary, AB, passed away on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at the age of 91 years. She was just one day shy of her 92nd birthday from complications of the covid-19 virus.

Marjorie was born to Tom and Annie Pearce. She started her life journey on her grandfather’s farm, fifty miles east of Regina - near the town of Sintaluta. She spent her childhood years on her family’s farm north of Regina close to the hamlet of Brora. Then, the family moved into Regina to allow the children to attend high school. After graduation Marjorie went to Balfour Technical School to obtain her secretarial certificate with which she landed a job at the accounting firm of Reid, Smith and Forbes.  It was at this job that she met her husband Herbert with whom she enjoyed sixty-three years of marriage. Marjorie raised her five children with a gentle hand and a constant smile, always there to help  and support them through their times of adversity. Whether it be editing assignments well into the night, or comforting them through their times of loss, Marjorie could always be counted on.

Marjorie liked nothing better than to be with her family on any occasion; birthday parties, Christmas, going to the beach, backyard barbeques or picnics, she was always an eager participant.  She would never be shy of suggesting that we as a family had not been together for a while so “someone should plan something”.

Marjorie will be truly missed by her children, Theresa (Dave), Beverly (Donald), Donna (Donald), Thomas (Sandi) and Sandra (Stanley); her  eleven grandchildren, Ryan (Tanya), Evan, Gavin (Jenny), Stewart (Megan), Richard (Danielle), Stephen (Erika), Katherine (Kyle), Rachel (Marcel), Jillian (Nick), Geoffrey (Katherine) and Scott.; and her six great-grandchildren, Jackson, Benjamin, Hannah, Peyton, Jacob And Kenna. She will also be sorely missed by her sister Dorothy and family.

Marjorie was predeceased by her husband Herbert and her infant grandson Peter.

A Private Celebration of Marjorie’s Life will be held when we are once again allowed to safely gather. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed on Marjorie’s obituary at www.McInnisandHolloway.com.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at the South Health Campus in Calgary, especially those working in the Covid-19 department for the care and compassion shown to Marjorie and her family throughout this difficult time.

In living memory of Marjorie Pointer, a tree will be planted in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road SE, Calgary, AB T2X 3J3, Telephone: 403-256-9575.
